Molly is desperate to leave Ray and his ugly past behind her, but Ray is still in love with her and won’t surrender. The stage play had two scenes one after the other that I merged to form the video’s narration. The video is my way of showing that even though the relationship between Ray and Molly is shot, they are addicted to each other and having the same dream. The video filled the entire back wall of the stage and in front it, ten yards apart, were two single beds, one with Ray, one with Molly, both asleep.
When Ray is released from jail he starts a brand-new life in a brand-new town, under a brand-new name. Una, a past lover of Ray’s when he was 40 and she was 12, finally decides to track him down. The final frame of the video is Una sitting on a table in the cafeteria of the Ray’s workplace, waiting for him to arrive. This portrait is also the opening image of the play on stage. When the video dissolves to black and the stage lights come up, the video and the stage play are one.
